I'm now down to 16.4 pounds.  I'm changing the way that I think about some things.  The porch isn't so scary.  I'm also giving up on getting treats all day.   I only get them a few times, and when I'm following directions.  I've decided that it's alright if I'm not right next to the LADY sometimes.  If she is folding clothes, I can go to the next room and wait.  Nothing good ever happens during laundry, anyways.

Note from the LADY: The vet said that Maggie's ideal weight is 15 pounds.

I'm now down to 16.4 pounds.  Today was rainy and I was introduced to my new raincoat.  I don't mind it, but I'm not terribly impressed.  I don't mind the rain-if the grass is not too tall.  The TALL MAN could do a little better in the grass cutting department.  The LADY also took up my raincoat in the front.  I had to get a size medium in order to have it fit in the belly.  I'm working hard to slim down into a size small so my winter coat won't drag the ground.  I don't like having to buy things in the "Husky" section.  Neither does the LADY.

The Vet said I needed to keep exercising because my legs are weak.  I'm learning that on our walks, I need to follow the LADY-not the other way around.  What can I say?  I'm not used to being around someone who is so bossy.  I now weigh 17 pounds.  Our walks are paying off, and I'm now thinner that I have been in years.  The LADY was right about one thing.  Being fit feels good!  I now can jump up on my back legs when I get excited.  I still get treats, so things aren't so bad.  I got watermelon this week.  Don't worry, there weren't any seeds.

I've been told that I have a weight problem.  I'm not sure what the problem is, since I see lots of people and other dogs who weigh too much.  When my foster family met me in April, I weighed 27 pounds.  I didn't think that this sounded like much, but on my tippy-toes, I only stand at 12 inches tall.  I am a chihuahua and dachshund mix, so that means I should be very small.  Right now I'm shaped like a bean bag, but I should be a long rectangle.  If I can't get my weight down, I might break my back.  My foster mom was helping me eat right and exercise.  My new family is giving me green beans instead of dog biscuits. They taste great since they were cooked in beef broth.  Sophie likes the green beans, too.  I'm not sure about Sophie yet.  She sleeps a lot.  So far I'm doing great with my weight and I only weigh 18 pounds now.
